Dear Parents and Carers,
Celebrating Our Amazing Staff During PSA Week
As we come together to celebrate Public Service Association (PSA) Week, we want to take a moment to extend our thanks to the incredible staff who keep our school community thriving every day.
To our dedicated office staff, Alyson, Lisa, Carolina, Sam & Vivian, thank you for being the welcoming face of our school, managing communications with care and efficiency, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Your hard work often goes unseen but is deeply appreciated.
To our wonderful School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), Summer, Louise, Rodney, Betty, Jae, Ellie, Ivy, An and Aaliyah, your support in the classroom makes a world of difference. Your patience, encouragement, and commitment help create an inclusive and positive learning environment for all our students.
A big thank you to Leigh in our canteen. You play a vital role in nourishing both our students and staff throughout the day. By providing tasty and nutritious meals during breaks, you help keep everyone energised and ready to learn and work.
And to our general assistant Steve, your dedication in maintaining our school’s facilities and supporting daily operations does not go unnoticed. Your work creates a safe, clean, and inviting space for everyone.
During PSA Week, we celebrate our Wentworth Point Team— the backbone of our school community. Thank you for your tireless commitment, your kindness, and the vital roles you play in making our school a better place for students, staff, and families alike.

Congratulations to the ‘Bride to Be’- Miss Vikki Kokkinos
We are delighted to share some wonderful news about our valued teacher, Vikki. She is about to embark on an exciting new chapter as she prepares to go on leave for her wedding and honeymoon. We want to take this opportunity to wish Vikki all the very best as she celebrates this occasion. Her dedication, passion, and warmth have made a lasting impact on our students and school community, and we look forward to welcoming her back after her well-deserved break. Please join us in congratulating Vikki and sending her our warmest wishes for a beautiful wedding day and a relaxing, memorable honeymoon.
While Vikki is on leave, we have Ms Emma Privett teaching the Squirrels class. During the three weeks, Ms Privett will be working closely with the wider Kindergarten team to ensure continuity of learning.
Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to All
As Father’s Day approaches, we want to extend our warmest wishes to all the fathers and father figures in our community—whatever your role may be and however you choose to celebrate. We recognise and appreciate the many ways you support, guide, and inspire the children in your lives. Whether you are a dad, stepdad, grandparent, uncle, carer, or someone who fills the fatherly role, your love and encouragement make a lasting difference.
Happy Father’s Day to each of you. We hope your day is filled with joy and special moments, in whatever way you celebrate. We look forward to celebrating with you at our P & C Father’s Day BBQ on Friday 5 September.
Join Us Next Week for Our Book Fair and Book Parade!
We are excited to welcome all community members to join us next week for a fun-filled celebration of reading. Come along to our Book Fair, where you can explore a wonderful selection of books for all ages. To make the event even more special, we invite students and families to dress up as their favourite book characters for our annual Book Parade.
After the parade, enjoy a delicious sausage sizzle picnic together—an opportunity to relax, connect, and share in the love of stories.
Kind Regards

Dear Friend and Families,
Every week at WPPS is filled with moments of joy, curiosity, and a real thirst for learning across every classroom. Our students continue to amaze us with their enthusiasm, their willingness to take on new challenges, and the pride they show in their learning. Out in the playground, there is just as much energy and care, with students building friendships, showing kindness, and supporting one another in play.
Together, these moments remind us of the vibrant, caring community we share here at Wentworth Point.
Stage 1 Excursion
This week I had the privilege of joining our Stage 1 excursion to Cabarita Park. Students explored and deepened their understanding of our local environment, learning how First Nations people lived from and cared for the land, and why it remains so important that we all continue to look after our environment for the future.
Excursions like these take a great deal of planning and teamwork. A heartfelt thank you to Miss Strasser and Miss Ghuak for organising such an engaging and informative experience for our Year 1 and Year 2 classes, with the guidance of our Stage Assistant Principals, Miss An and Mrs Del Rizzo.
We were very proud of our students—their excellent behaviour, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning shone throughout the day. A special mention also goes to how responsibly they travelled to and from school by ferry, representing our school with pride.

School Photos
Our 2025 school photos are finally making their way home this week. We sincerely apologise for the long delay and thank you for your patience and understanding.
Students who were part of extra groups have also received a special order form. These include:
School Leadership
SRC
Winter PSSA Teams
Summer PSSA Teams
If you believe your child should have received a group photo order form but did not bring one home, please email the school office.
For any family who did not order a photo of their child, you can still request a photo by contacting the team at MSP Photography either by phone (02) 9558 3363 or email southsydney@msp.com.au
Thank you again for your understanding and support.
Kind Regards
Karosha Reddy

Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s been a whirlwind of a term - and we’ve still got 3 weeks to go! There’s so much happening at WPPS, and to help keep everyone in the loop we’re posting regular “What’s On at WPPS” updates on our Instagram. Make sure you stay connected and give us a like. Our Instagram handle is @wentworth_point_ps
You’ll also see regular posts about our weekly focus from the Wentworth Point Way. These posts will let you know when the website has been updated, so you can reinforce our school expectations and learning at home. This week we are excited to celebrate Book Week Parade and Family Picnic, hold our Book Fair and raise awareness with RUOK? Day with our school community.
Book Week Parade & Family Picnic
Our Book Week Parade will begin at approximately 9:15am. All students will be participating and showcasing their wonderful costumes. Before the parade begins, we encourage families to arrive early to secure a seat and grab a coffee from the coffee cart, proudly provided by Team Kids. Following the parade, families are invited to join us for a Family Picnic, which will conclude at 11:00am. During this time, there will also be a photo booth available for families to enjoy.
As a part of our picnic we will be having a sausage sizzle fundraiser, where all monies raised will go towards purchasing new texts to go into our upgraded library when it reopens in 2026. Student pre-orders are now closed. Families on the day can purchase directly from the BBQ.
Book Fair
The Book Fair will be open to our community at the following times:
Monday 8 & Tuesday 9 September: 8:30am – 9:00am
Wednesday 10 & Thursday 11 September: 2:30pm – 3:45pm
Students have all visited the Book Fair this week and created wish lists during their library lessons to help families with purchases.

R U Ok? Day
Next week on Thursday 11 September, Wentworth Point Public School will be holding a special 'Yellow' mufit day to raise awareness of R U Ok? Day. The cost for the mufti day will be $1.00 per student. All monies raised on the day will be donated to the Smith Family charity. This activity has been organised by our School Representative Council and throughout the day there will be a variety of in class activities to raise awareness and to check in that everybody is okay!

Kind Regards
Daniel Hall

Hippos Blankets of Memories
In Year 2, the Hippos have been combining creativity with key writing skills as they explored the theme of special memories. Each child chose a meaningful moment, such as a family celebration, a fun day out, or an important achievement, and turned it into a piece of writing. The children have been learning to use paragraphing to organise their ideas, complex sentences to add detail, and descriptive language to enhance their writing. To accompany their writing, they designed a personal ‘blanket’ of memories: a patchwork filled with drawings and symbols that reflect who they are, including their favourite people, places, pets and hobbies. We are also in the process of creating a class blanket to represent the Hippos and celebrate our similarities and differences. This project has helped the Hippos express themselves through both words and art, while developing important literacy skills in a meaningful and engaging way.

Measuring Up in Stage 2!
The Echidnas have been busy exploring measurement by comparing the mass of everyday objects. Using scales, they discovered how to measure in grams and kilograms. Students estimated and measured the mass of different classroom items and were able to reflect on the task by working out the difference between the two using subtraction. Students also worked in groups to investigate the mass of combined items that were within a given range. Through hands-on activities, they are building confidence in measuring and making connections to the world around them.

Stage 1 LEGO Club
Each Friday, Stage 1 LEGO Club comes together to create, build, develop, and explore a variety of LEGO skills. Students work alongside their peers, communicating and collaborating to bring their imaginative ideas to life. From designing creatures to building vehicles, they’ve been adding new features each week and watching their LEGO Worlds grow and evolve. They also explore short video links with building tips to enhance their skills and spark new ideas. We’re excited to present their amazing creations at the end of the term!

Messages from P&C Association
P&C Association is a group of volunteers who are parents at the school and members of the local community who want to support the school. The group is committed to supporting and working with the principal and staff to improve the learning experiences of all children. P&C holds meetings once every term of school. It is an informal gathering of parents, citizens, and some staff members where current and future plans for the school are discussed, and how P&C can work together to support and drive common interests related to the school. Members of the P&C committee provide updates and discuss ways to develop and build on a sense of belonging and connection.
