Dear Parents and Carers,
Exciting Baby News
Wentworth Point Public School will be farewelling two members of staff shortly who are heading off on parental leave. Mrs Bianca Perugini, class teacher of Year 1 Zebras class and Mrs Carolina Sole, our School Administration Officer will both be taking leave in the next two weeks.
You will have noticed a new friendly staff member in our front office, Miss Sam Organ. Sam joined the team a while ago which has allowed for a smooth transition.
Miss Iris Lee has been working at Wentworth Point Public School as a casual teacher throughout Term 3. She has worked closely with students in Year 1 and 2 and more recently has been team teaching with Mrs Perugini. This time together before Bianca starts her maternity leave has enabled a smooth transfer of information and time for connection with a new teacher.

On behalf of the staff and students of Wentworth Point Public School, we would like to wish both Bianca and Carolina all the best on the arrival of their babies. This will bring WPPS total of six babies born in 2025!
Wet Weather and Road Safety Update
The recent heavy rain has made it challenging for outdoor play. This week, we have arranged for one grade or stage at a time to play outside under the COLA and in the main hall during one break, while during the other break, students stay inside with staff supervision doing indoor activities.
With busy roads and wet conditions, some dangerous behaviours have been observed. Some families are double parking and having children move between cars that are still running to enter the school. Others have been seen running across roads while parents remain in double-parked cars in no-parking zones. Additionally, some community members are performing illegal three-point turns in front of the school.
Every day, Dan, Karosha, and I supervise at the front or back gates. We welcome families and take the opportunity to talk to students about road safety, especially if we see risky crossing behaviours. However, our role is not to address parents’ road rule violations. All licensed drivers have passed tests to understand road rules, so it is disappointing and dangerous to see these rules being broken, putting our students and community at risk.
These violations carry heavy fines and demerit points. For example, last week I observed a community member double parking near the Pierside entrance ($410 fine plus 2 demerits) and doing a U-turn in front of the school ($410 plus 3 demerits), totalling $820 and 5 demerit points.
Please help us keep our children safe by following road rules at all times.
What penalties apply if I break the road rules in a school zone?
Did you know that parking-based offences attract harsher punishments when committed in a school zone? Here is an overview of the main infringements and their penalties.
1. Observe No Parking signs: You have 2 minutes to drop-off or pick-up. You must stay within 3 metres of your vehicle. Failure to observe these rules can result in a $215 fine and 2 demerit points.
2. Stopping in an intersection - if a driver commits this offence in a school zone, they will receive a penalty of $544 and 2 demerit points.
3. Stop within 10m of intersection (no traffic lights) if a driver commits this offence in a school zone, they will receive a penalty of $544 and 2 demerit points.
4. Obstruct access to ramp/path/passageway - if a driver commits this offence in a school zone, they will receive a penalty of $410 and 2 demerit points.
5. Not parallel park in the direction of travel - if a driver commits this offence in a school zone, they will receive a $410 fine and 2 demerit points.
6. Parallel Park close to dividing line - if a driver commits this offence in a school zone, they will receive a $410 fine and 2 demerit points.
7. Double Parking: Double parking is very dangerous in a school zone and will get you a fine of $410 and 2 demerit points.
8. U turns: Illegal U turns in a school zone are dangerous and will get you a fine of $410 and 3 demerit points.
9. Double Demerits: Speeding and mobile phone school zone offences attract double demerits within legislated periods.
I am asking our community to come together and follow the road rules. The safety of our students should be of upmost importance.
Library Upgrade
As part of Stage 2 of the Wentworth Point Public School upgrade, work will begin on improving our school library. The current open tiered layout will be reconfigured to enhance functionality. Specifically, the tiered seating between the ground and first floors will be removed to create more floor space, allowing the entire library collection to be housed across the ground and first floors.
Starting Monday, 15 September, library lessons will be held in classrooms while construction is underway. During this period, students will not be able to borrow books from the library. We ask that all students return their library books before this date.
We encourage our community to use the Wentworth Point Community Library during this time. Please click the link below for more information about the local library. WPCCL Booklet.

Messages from Karosha Reddy, Deputy Principal

Dear Wentworth Point Families and Friends,
What a week it has been with constant rain of every kind—steady showers, sudden downpours, and everything in between! I want to thank our staff, students, and families for their patience and understanding as we managed the challenges of limited outdoor play. It has been wonderful to see our students adapt with such resilience, finding joy in indoor activities and showing care for one another when routines were disrupted.
Hopefully the weekend brings some much-needed sunshine, giving everyone the chance to recharge, enjoy the outdoors, and look ahead for another week of learning together.
School Photos
Unfortunately, there has been a significant delay in receiving our 2025 school photos. I have been in regular contact with the team at MSP Photography, and they have advised that all photos should be delivered to the school early next week.
We know how much families look forward to receiving their child’s photos and understand the disappointment this delay may cause. Please be assured that as soon as the delivery arrives, we will notify families through Schoolzine and School Bytes so photos can be distributed promptly.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this extended delay.
School Uniform
We know that the recent stretch of wet weather has made laundry routines more difficult for many families, and the cooler mornings can also be a challenge. We want all children to feel comfortable so they can focus on their learning. On occasion, jackets, jumpers, and other extra layers are perfectly fine to help keep children warm.
However, we are noticing an increase in students regularly wearing casual clothing such as jeans, corduroy pants, brightly coloured tights and leggings, ugg boots, gum boots, and other items outside of our school uniform. We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that children wear the correct school uniform each day. Wearing our school uniform helps foster pride, creates a sense of belonging, and strengthens the positive identity of our school community.
Uniforms can be purchased online through Pickles Schoolwear, with deliveries sent directly to the school. In addition, our P&C Second Hand Uniform Shop operates on the first Thursday of every month. All items have been donated by families and are in good, clean condition. Funds raised through the P&C Second Hand Uniform shop go directly towards supporting school initiatives.
Here are some of our students proudly wearing their winter uniform options.

It is important that students wear the correct school uniform each day, or where needed, clothing that reflects our school colours. During the winter months, all classrooms are heated to ensure students are comfortable, and on wet weather days children spend their time between the classroom and sheltered areas.

Year 2 Parent Workshop
This week we held a workshop for Year 2 parents, focused on developing an understanding of the flexible strategies students are learning and applying to a range of mathematical problems.
We know that the way maths is taught at school has changed over time, and it can sometimes feel confusing for parents when trying to support their child at home. The purpose of the workshop was not to train parents to teach maths, but rather to provide insight into the types of activities happening in classrooms and to share the learning expectations and language used when learning maths, for students at this stage.
Workshop numbers were limited to registered bookings to ensure meaningful interaction with parents. A very big thank you to Mrs Del Rizzo, Miss Strasser, Miss An, Miss Lay, and Mrs Russell for their thoughtful planning, preparation, and delivery of the session. We received wonderful feedback from those who attended, even though the rainy weather kept a few families away.
We look forward to offering more opportunities for parents to connect with the learning happening in classrooms through future workshops across different learning areas.

Afternoon Pick up
Below is a repeat of the message previously shared with everyone. We appreciate your continued support.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to follow our afternoon pick-up procedures. We know the recent heavy rain has made pickup more challenging, and we truly appreciate the patience shown by so many families. At the same time, we remind everyone that these procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all students, parents, and staff.
In wet weather especially, it is unsafe for hundreds of children and adults to be walking in and out of the front steps. There is not enough space for large numbers of people moving in two directions, and we know that rain often leads to rushing as everyone wants to get out of the wet. Our staff are on duty to guide and support this process, and it is essential that their instructions are followed at all times. While we understand that walking in the rain is inconvenient and uncomfortable, safety must always come first.
We value the strong sense of community at our school and know that when we work together respectfully, we set a powerful example for our children. Thank you again for your ongoing support in keeping our school a safe and positive place for everyone.
Kind Regards
Karosha Reddy
Messages from Daniel Hall, Deputy Principal

Dear All,
It’s been wonderful to be back at the gates each morning, greeting so many smiling faces as our students arrive. The positive energy from families and children really sets the tone for the day, and we appreciate the warmth and kindness you bring to our school community.
I would also like to echo our recent messages and School Zine posts, and sincerely thank the parents and carers who continue to support us by following our afternoon dismissal routines. Your cooperation makes a big difference in keeping our students safe and ensuring a smooth end to the day.
Please take note of the following key events we have coming up:
WPPS Book Week 2025
While many schools across the country will be celebrating Book Week during the official dates(16 - 23 August), at Wentworth Point Public School we’ll be celebrating a little later this year due to Swim School running over the next two weeks, which involves many of our Year 2, 3 and 4 students.
Our Book Parade will be held on Wednesday 10 September, and we warmly welcome parents, carers, and our school community to come along to view the parade and stay afterwards for a family picnic.
Students will have the opportunity to pre-order a sausage sizzle, and parents will be able to purchase on the day. More information about this will be sent out to the community shortly. All funds raised will go directly towards purchasing new texts for our library, which will be proudly available for students to enjoy after our upcoming library refurbishment.
Students will have the opportunity to visit and create wish lists from the Book Fair during their weekly library lessons. Our Book Fair will be open to the community on the following times:
- Monday 8 September - 8:30-9am
- Tuesday 9 September - 8:30-9am
- Wednesday 11 September - 2:30-3:45pm
- Thursday 12 September - 2:30-3:45pm

Year 6 Disco & Year 6 Market Stall
Our Year 6 students have been working hard (and getting creative!) with their fundraising initiatives to support their end-of-year celebrations. One of the most exciting events on the horizon is our Glowtastic Disco – a night full of music, fun and plenty of glowing energy!

In addition, our talented Year 6 students have been busy creating special items that will be available for purchase at the upcoming Winter Markets.
A big thank you to our wonderful P&C who will be helping bring these creations to the community. All monies raised from the sale of these year 6 creations will go towards reducing the costs of the Year 6 Farewell.
Keep an eye on our Instagram page for a sneak peek of what’s in store – you won’t want to miss it!
The Wentworth Point Way
This week at Wentworth Point Public School, we are proudly to introduce The Wentworth Point Way – our school-wide platform for teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours and expectations. Students will be engaging with The Wentworth Point Way daily in their classrooms, helping them understand our expectations of caring for self, caring for others and the environment and how this looks at school.

We encourage parents and carers to take a moment to view the website and use it at home to help reinforce these behaviours. Working together ensures consistency and helps our students thrive both at school and in the wider community.
Keep an eye out for an update on Monday via Instagram and SchoolZine for more updates. You can view the Wentworth Point Way here

The Galahs love working in Groups!
In Term 3, the Galahs have been working in small groups to help each other learn. In maths, we discovered the properties of 2D quadrilaterals by using geoboards to create them, as well working in groups to find the lines of symmetry in different shapes. Did you know parallelograms have no lines of symmetry? In science, we also worked in groups to discover where food come from – animal or plant? Then we also discovered how our food come from different parts of a plant – roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds.

Kindergarten New Arrivals Withdrawal Groups with Mrs. Attia
This term we have been learning about constructing full sentences and saying them to the group. This helps our English language acquisition and makes us more confident at school. We have been reading short stories and then answering questions. This helps with our listening skills, which improves our comprehension. We are also having fun learning through games and singing songs.

Messages from P&C Association
P&C Association is a group of volunteers who are parents at the school and members of the local community who want to support the school. The group is committed to supporting and working with the principal and staff to improve the learning experiences of all children. P&C holds meetings once every term of school. It is an informal gathering of parents, citizens, and some staff members where current and future plans for the school are discussed, and how P&C can work together to support and drive common interests related to the school. Members of the P&C committee provide updates and discuss ways to develop and build on a sense of belonging and connection.
