Semester 1 Reports and Student/ Parent/ Teacher Conferences
I look forward to welcoming our community onsite next week for the scheduled parent-teacher conferences. This is a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child's progress this semester and celebrate their achievements.
As a reminder, all schools are required to provide parents and carers the chance to meet with their child's teachers after formal reports are issued. Additionally, parents are encouraged to reach out to staff for interviews or phone calls at any time throughout the year. If you would like to schedule an additional meeting with your child's teacher, please don’t hesitate to email the school front office to arrange a convenient time.
School reports will be sent home electronically via School Bytes on Friday 27 June. As mentioned in the 17 May 2025 newsletter, Wentworth Point Public School are using the 2025 Updated Report Template developed by the NSW Department of Education in response to feedback from parents and carers to make reports easier to read. A new achievement scale and descriptors are included to provide a clearer picture of your child’s progress. The scale is used for students in Years 1 to 6 only. Kindergarten students will have written comments provided for each of the key learning areas describing student achievement in relation to syllabus expectations.

However, we regret to inform you that Wentworth Point Public School will be closed for the "Share Our Space" initiative due to ongoing construction on our school site.
From Saturday, July 5 to Sunday, July 20, 2025, numerous schools will have their grounds open to the public. To find participating schools and discover FREE activity locations, please click on the link below:

Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for your ongoing support, understanding, and partnership throughout Term 2. It has been a busy and productive term, and we are grateful for the positive collaboration between home and school. Your encouragement and involvement make a real difference in the learning and wellbeing of our students. We hope the upcoming school holidays provide all families with the chance to rest, reconnect, and enjoy some special moments together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 3.
EAL/D Reports
For many of our students who are in the early phases of English language proficiency, an additional EAL/D report has been developed. This report provides parents with information about how their child’s English language learning has been supported through targeted, small group instruction.
For every child identified as speaking a language other than English, an EAL/D phase has also been included in the main school report. This phase indicates your child’s current level of English language proficiency, based on classroom observations and teacher assessments. Below is a description of the EAL/D phases.
If you have any questions about how your child’s English language development is being supported, please contact the school to arrange a meeting with your child’s class teacher and one of our EAL/D specialist staff.
Personal Stationery Reminder
As we wrap up a busy and productive term, you might find that your child’s personal stationery items are running low or need a top-up. To help with preparation for next term, we’ve included a summary of what’s needed for each stage.
We kindly ask that students avoid bringing items that are expensive or of high sentimental value to school. Labelling your child’s belongings also makes a big difference as it helps avoid mix-ups and makes sure lost items find their way back home more easily.
Thank you for your support in keeping things running smoothly!
Have a happy, safe and healthy school holidays. I look forward to greeting you at gates in the morning or afternoon.
Kind Regards
Karosha Reddy

Dear All,
It’s hard to believe how quickly this fast-paced term has flown by and just like that, we’ve completed the first semester of 2025!
As we look ahead, Term 3 is shaping up to be a big one, with many exciting community events planned in the first few weeks. I’m really looking forward to seeing our families onsite as we come together to celebrate culture, learning, and community.
Please see below for some important information as we wrap up Term 2 and head into Term 3.
NAIDOC Week 2025 – Celebrating Culture and Community at WPPS
NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In 2025, NAIDOC Week falls during the school holidays from Sunday 6 July to Sunday 13 July. Wentworth Point Public School will be acknowledging and celebrating this important event during Week 1 of Term 3.
To honour the rich cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, we are planning a variety of events and activities across the week. These will provide students with meaningful opportunities to learn about and engage with Aboriginal culture, storytelling, art, and traditions.
As part of our celebrations, we will be holding a "Red, Black & Yellow" mufti day fundraiser on Thursday 23 July. All donations will be going to the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation, an organisation that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children by providing access to books, literacy programs and educational resources, helping to close the literacy gap. To participate in the mufti day, it's asked that students bring in a gold coin donation.
To encourage community spirit, the K–2 class and 3–6 class who raise the most money will be rewarded with a special creative arts experience in Week 1!
Education Week Open Day – Wednesday 6 August
A friendly reminder that our Education Week Open Day is coming up in Week 3, on Wednesday 6 August! Join us for Open Classrooms, a Celebration Festival with student performances, and our Art Gallery and Playground Clubs Exhibitions.
A Reminder About Toys at School
We kindly remind families that students should not bring toys to school. Toys can cause unnecessary distractions during learning time, and there is always a risk they may be lost or broken throughout the day. At Wentworth Point Public School, we offer a wide range of engaging activities during break times. Students can take part in our playground clubs, or enjoy using the balls and sporting equipment provided for play. We appreciate your support in helping us keep the school environment focused, safe, and inclusive for all students.

Celebrating Our School’s WriteOn Finalists!
We’re excited to congratulate Ayushman (Stage 2) and Poppy (Stage 3) who were selected as our school’s representatives for the annual WriteOn competition. This state-wide writing competition encourages students to craft imaginative texts in response to a stimulus, showcasing their creativity and voice as young authors. This year’s stimulus was the thought-provoking quote: “Could they be changing?” - inspiring students to explore themes of transformation, perspective and imagination. Our school winners demonstrated outstanding writing skills and originality, and we are proud to submit their entries to represent our school in this prestigious event.

The Musical Rhinos
The Rhinos have been exploring their musical creativity through the Amplify program this term. They have been playing a variety of instruments, including xylophones, tambourines, boomwhackers, maracas and much more! They have also loved practising their singing techniques to the song Hugs. Working in small groups, the students have enjoyed the process of collaborating with each other to compose their own unique pieces and performing them for one another.

Riding The Wave
During Term 2, the Foxes have been learning about making connections between texts, their lives and the world. We viewed the story Wave by Suzy Lee which is a picture book with no words! Students then made connections between the book and times that they have played in the waves. To finish off, we looked at the famous artwork ‘The Great Wave Off Kanagawa’ and attempted to create our own versions. We can’t wait to learn about more texts and how they can connect to our lives and the world.

Aquarius Architects Building With 3D Shapes!

Kindergarten Imaginative Play Club
Imaginative play club for Kindergarten students is held every Monday. It is run by Ms Atterton and gives students an opportunity to play with a variety of toys. We play dress ups, construction, kinetic sand among others. This gives students a chance to develop their social skills whist having lots of fun!

Stage 1 Dance Group
The Stage 1 Dance group have been working very hard every Thursday to learn and rehearse a set dance routine. They put in a lot of effort and always enter a practice with big smiles on their faces. They can’t wait to perform their dance to everyone in upcoming school events.

NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee
Last week we held our Junior and Senior Spelling Bee finals. Congratulations to all the class finalists who participated. They certainly had some tricky words to spell and they all did very well. Our Junior winner was Michaela Chen from Echidnas, who correctly spelt the word ‘dalmatian’ to win the final. Junior runner up was Ryan Hesami from Rhinos. Our Senior winner was Xavier Eid from Hydras, who correctly spelt the word ‘chrysalis’ to win the final. Xabi Taufiq was the Senior runner up. Xavier and Michaela will now go on to represent our school at the Regional Finals next term.

Library Activities and Notices
Wentworth Point public school participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime by reading and listening to “The Truck Cat.” By Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell. WPPS was one of the 21, 000 locations to engage in the story. Many classes watched the live stream or read the book and then carried out fun activities. The Hound class enjoyed watching the Auslan version of “The Truck Cat” and the Bilbies worked together to solve the word puzzle.

During library lessons Stage 1 students have been discovering past and present technologies. Students were fascinated by the cassette tapes, cassette players, walkmans and iPods. Students found that taking photos wasn’t easy in the past with using film and not seeing the image straight away. Here are the Rhinos, exploring past music players and telephones.

After reading “Ned Kelly and the Green Sash” by Mark Greenwood and researching Ned Kelly if he was a villain or a hero. Stage 2 students developed their Canva skills to create a wanted poster.
