Dear Parents and Carers,
Semester 1 Reports
Our staff are currently finalising student reports. As mentioned in a previous newsletter, we will be introducing an updated school report format developed by the NSW Department of Education. This year, student reports will be shared exclusively via the School Bytes platform, eliminating paper copies. This change aims to streamline the reporting process and make it easier for you to access your child’s performance and progress anytime. Please ensure you have access to School Bytes. Semester 1 reports will be available to our community starting at 4 PM on Friday, June 27, 2025.
Another Busy Fortnight @WPPS
It never ceases to amaze me how many additional programs and activities we manage to fit into just two weeks. Recently, we have participated in:
- Two debating competitions against Lidcombe Public School and Concord West Public School
- Two rounds of Winter PSSA
- Regional Cross Country- Congratulations Emma, Antonina, Olivia, Alice, Benji, Jacqueline, Poppy & Sorkhatan for representing your school with pride. Photos and details of the event are outlined below.
- Multicultural Public Speaking Competition for Stage 2 and Stage 3 students
- School Photographs for Kindergarten to Stage 3 across two days
- Kindergarten Parent Workshop sharing strategies to support students to identify and understand phonics, blending and high frequency words
- 26 Playground Clubs running every week for students to attend during breaks
- Scripture lessons K- 6 for Catholic, Combined Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Ethics and non- scripture
All these events reinforce our school vision of placing students at the centre of their learning and wellbeing within a challenging and innovative environment where every student feels a strong sense of belonging. Thank you to our community for your unwavering support of our school.
Kind Regards
Jayne Muir

Dear Parents and Carers,
What a full and busy time it has been across the school!
From engaging classroom learning to exciting extra-curricular activities, there has been so much to celebrate. Our students continue to show growth not only in their learning but also in their confidence, friendships and sense of belonging.
Kindergarten Parent workshop
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended our recent Kindergarten workshop, led by our amazing Kindergarten team. We know how curious and eager parents are to understand what their children are learning at school and how best to support that learning at home.
It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm in the room as parents joined in activities like decoding words using letter sounds (phonemes) and discovering how two letters can work together to make a single sound. Together, we explored the importance of repeated practice and were reminded that every child learns to read at their own pace.
At Wentworth Point Public School, we deeply value our home–school partnerships. We look forward to welcoming even more families to future workshops and continuing this shared journey in supporting your child’s learning.

Student, Parent, Teacher Conferences
From Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July, parents and carers will have the opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher. These 10-minute conferences are a chance to celebrate your child’s progress and discuss areas of focus for the rest of the year.
To book a conference time, please log in to your SchoolBytes Parent Portal and click on the Interviews tab. A step-by-step guide has also been attached for your convenience.
Phone conferences will be scheduled between 9:00am and 3:00pm.
In-person meetings will be held from 8:00am – 8:45am and 3:00pm – 4:45pm.
Thank you for taking the time to connect with your child’s teacher. Your ongoing partnership plays an important role in supporting their learning and development.
School Photos
It has been a big couple of days at Wentworth Point Public School with formal school photos for 2025 now complete!
Across the two days, students had their class and individual portraits taken. In addition, photos were captured of our Student Leaders, Sports Leaders, SRC, and all PSSA teams (both Summer and Winter). These images help us celebrate the many ways students contribute to school life and create special keepsakes for families to treasure.
Families can still place orders for school photos until Monday 30 June. If you have any questions or experience any difficulties placing an order, please don’t hesitate to contact the friendly team at MSP Photography on (02) 9558 3363.
As we quickly approach the end of Term 2, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on the growth and achievements we’ve seen across our school. This term has been filled with innovative learning in classrooms, stronger peer connections, sporting successes, and meaningful personal and social development for every child.
Our dedicated teachers have been working hard to capture each student’s progress and development and are looking forward to sharing this with families in Semester One reports.
Kind Regards
Karosha Reddy

School Mural
We are proud to share the newest section of our school mural, a stunning and meaningful artwork created especially for Wentworth Point Public School. This mural, designed by Uncle Matt, uses traditional Aboriginal symbols to represent our school community and its strong connection to the Parramatta River.
The mural is positioned around our Acknowledgment of Country, serving as a visual reminder of the deep cultural heritage of the land we learn and play on. We sincerely thank Uncle Matt for his creativity, time, and generosity in bringing this beautiful piece to life. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Aunty Justine, whose support and guidance have helped us connect more deeply to culture and to Uncle Matt.
Murals like this are more than just art, they are a way to connect all students and families at Wentworth Point PS to Aboriginal culture, to foster understanding, and to show respect for the Traditional Custodians of this land. If you haven't seen our mural, I would highly encourage you to come and view it at pick up or drop off.

Education Week Open Day – Join Us in Celebrating Learning on Wednesday August 6!
Education Week is fast approaching, and we can’t wait to open our gates once again to our amazing WPPS community! Last year, we were blown away by the incredible turnout, and this year we’re looking forward to welcoming even more families to see what learning looks like at Wentworth Point Public School. Our Open Classrooms will give you a chance to step inside and witness the wonderful teaching and learning happening across the school.
Following this, we will come together for our Celebration Festival, featuring performances from our talented choirs and dance troupes, We will also be showcasing again, an Art Gallery Exhibition, with this year’s theme, 'Ignite Your Potential'. Every child in the school will have a piece of art on display, highlighting their individuality, imagination, and expression. We will also be exhibiting our Playground Clubs Exhibition—an exciting display of the many opportunities students have to engage in interest-based clubs during Break 3 and 4. You will see photos, videos, and creations that reflect the variety and richness of these experiences.
We can’t wait to see you there as we celebrate our students and the vibrant community that makes WPPS such a special place to learn and grow.

Pick-Up Safety Reminder
A friendly reminder to all families that during afternoon pick-up, our school follows a one-way entry and exit system: please enter through the main front entrance and exit via the back gate. This routine is in place to ensure the safety and smooth movement of all students and families during one of our busiest times of day.
We sincerely thank all of our parents and carers who consistently follow this expectation—your cooperation makes a real difference. Please remember that this rule applies to everyone, even if you’ve found a convenient parking spot out the front, are in a rush to catch the ferry, or have an appointment at the Pier Side Medical Centre. The safety of all students comes first, and we appreciate everyone doing their part.
The only exception to this is for families of students in our Support Unit classes, who may exit via the front gate if they need to. This adjustment is in place to support the individual access and sensory needs of these students.
See you at a gate or in a learning space soon!
Kind Regards
Dan Hall

Buddy Program
Since the end of last term, our Tigers have been participating in the Buddy Reading Program, and it’s been a fantastic journey! In Term 1, they teamed up with the Stage 3 Hydras, and this term, they’re enjoying reading time with the Stage 3 Dracos. Each session, the Tigers bring along their decodable readers and share stories with their Stage 3 buddies, who offer support, guidance, and ask thoughtful comprehension questions to deepen understanding. This program is a wonderful way to build literacy skills while fostering meaningful connections between students across stages.
In addition to our Buddy Reading adventures, the Tigers were invited to visit the Stage 2 Kangaroos to explore their amazing homework projects! The Kangaroos showcased creative games they designed using recycled materials, and the Tigers had an absolute blast playing and learning alongside them. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate creativity, collaboration, and sustainability. We feel so lucky to share these enriching experiences with our older buddies – what a wonderful way to learn and grow together!

Hard-working Lions
This term, students from Lions have been developing their writing skills by exploring both narratives and fables. They have been learning how to structure their stories and create interesting characters and settings. They have been focussing on descriptive language, and varied sentence structures to make their writing more engaging. The Lions are becoming more confident storytellers and enjoy sharing their ideas with others!
In science, Lions have been learning about the journey food takes from the farm to our tables. They have explored each stage of the process, from growing and harvesting crops to transporting and selling food in shops. To deepen their understanding, the students planted cress seeds and are observing how plants grow and what they need to thrive. It has been lots of fun monitoring their seedlings and reflecting on the importance of fresh, healthy food.

Stage 2 Students Get Creative in Comic Club!
This term, our Stage 2 students have been channeling their creativity and storytelling skills in Comic Club! During lunchtime sessions, students have been busy crafting their very own digital comics using Canva, an online design tool that has helped bring their wildest ideas to life.
Each student developed their own storyline, designed original characters, and used digital tools to build colourful panels filled with action, humour, and heart. From epic superhero tales to everyday school adventures, the range of ideas and creativity on display has been incredible.
Comic Club has been a fantastic opportunity for students to express themselves, collaborate with peers, and build digital and literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.
Check out the selection of their amazing comics - about them!
We’re so proud of their hard work and imagination. Well done, Comic Club!
