Message from Jayne Muir, Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
Morning Gate Welcome
Every morning I am at the front or back gate welcoming our students and community onsite. Our Deputy Principals are also on a gate each and every morning. I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the friendliness and approachability that everyone demonstrates at the school gates. Your warm smiles, kind greetings, and supportive interactions create a welcoming atmosphere that sets a positive tone for our students as they start their day.
The sense of community we share is truly special, and it plays a vital role in fostering a supportive environment for our children. Whether it’s a friendly wave, a quick chat, or simply sharing a smile, these small gestures make a big difference in making everyone feel valued, connected and a sense of belonging.
Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. Your kindness and approachability not only enrich the drop-off experience but also help nurture a culture of respect and inclusiveness.
Late to School
I am writing to address a concern that has recently come to our attention regarding student punctuality. On Monday, we noticed a significant number of students, 40 in total, arriving late to school. A common reason given for these late arrivals was "slept in."
The first part of our school day is crucial for setting the tone for a successful day of learning. It includes essential learning activities and daily reviews that help reinforce concepts and prepare students for the day ahead. When students miss this time, it can lead to gaps in their learning and disrupt not only their routine but also the classroom environment.
We understand that mornings can be challenging, and occasional delays are understandable. However, we encourage you to help your child establish a consistent morning routine to ensure they arrive at school on time. This will not only benefit their learning but also help them develop important life skills such as time management and responsibility.
We appreciate your support in addressing this matter and are here to assist with any strategies or resources you might need to improve morning routines. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in ensuring the best educational experience for your child.
Uniform
As we transition into the colder months, we have noticed an increase in students arriving at school not wearing the correct uniform. While we understand the need for warmth and comfort, it is important that students adhere to our school uniform policy.
Recently, we have observed several students wearing non-uniform jumpers, long pants, and other casual clothing, with some arriving at school where the only item that complies with our uniform policy is their shirt. This trend raises concerns not only about maintaining a consistent school identity but also about the safety and wellbeing of our students.
Wearing the correct school uniform fosters a sense of belonging and connection among students. It helps create a positive school culture and allows for easier identification of students while they are on school grounds. Additionally, a consistent uniform helps to minimise distractions, allowing students to focus on their learning.
We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that your child comes to school dressed in the appropriate uniform, including jumpers and pants that align with our guidelines. If your child needs uniform items, our P & C run a second-hand uniform shop on the first Thursday of every month. In addition, Pickles offer online ordering and delivery to school.
Kind Regards
Jayne Muir

Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through Term 2 and reaching the midpoint of the year. Across the classrooms at Wentworth Point, there’s a real buzz of energy as students eagerly strengthen their reading skills, tackle problem-solving challenges in Mathematics, and share personal experiences that connect to other learning areas in Science, History, and Personal Development.
I recently had the pleasure of joining the Zebras class for a fun and engaging music lesson. Students had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate, create music using a variety of instruments, and explore movements such as Shake, Hit, and Scrape. I’m excited to see their understanding of musical concepts continue to grow in the weeks ahead.
School Photos
This is that time of year again, our annual School Photo Days, which will be held on Wednesday 11 June and Thursday 12 June. This is a special time to capture school memories, so we ask that all students come dressed in full school uniform, including neat and tidy hair.
All photo orders are to be completed online—ordering details are shared below. Every student has a unique log in to order photos and for families where more than one child is enrolled at WPPS, parents can add additional children to the one order form.
Thank you to all our Wentworth Point families and friends for your ongoing partnership. Your support truly helps us create a warm and vibrant learning environment where every student can thrive.
Kind Regards
Karosha Reddy

Dear All,
What a busy and exciting time it has been at our school! It’s been wonderful to greet you each morning and witness the magic of learning unfold every day in learning spaces. We are also thrilled to share that we are currently underway with planning our 2025 Education Week celebration, set to take place in Term 3. Last year’s celebration was a highlight for all, as we came together to celebrate belonging and the importance of public education at WPPPS. We can’t wait to make this year’s event even more special!
Sorry Day & National Reconciliation Week
This week, our school community came together to commemorate Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week. Students across all year groups engaged in meaningful activities and discussions, learning about the significance of these observances in acknowledging Australia’s history and working towards a more inclusive future. Through art, storytelling, and collaborative projects, our students explored the themes of respect, recognition, and healing. We are proud of their efforts to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ongoing journey of reconciliation. One activity that was completed across the school, was student pledged what they can do - so make sure you ask your child what they pledged!

Afternoon Exit
A friendly reminder to all families: for the safety and consistency of our afternoon dismissal, all students and families are only to be exiting through the back gate. We understand that the front gate may seem more convenient, especially for those heading to the ferry or Pier Side, but we ask for your cooperation in following this procedure. This measure is in place to ensure the safety of all students and maintain order during pick-up times. Thank you for your understanding and support!
See you at the gate or in a learning space soon!
Kind Regards
Daniel Hall
Zone Cross County
This week we had a number of students represent our school at the Western Sydney PSSA Zone Country Carnival. We are proud of all participants and their effort in the age division. A HUGE congratulations to the following students who have made it to the Regional Cross Country that will take place on Wednesday 11th June 2025.
- Emma (8/9 years)
- Antonina & Olivia (10 years)
- Alice & Benji (11 years)
- Jacqueline, Poppy & Sorkhatan (12/13 years)
We have also been informed that Wentworth Point Public School are joint overall winners with Newington Public School at the WSPSSA Zone Cross Country. This is a massive achievement for our school as this is the first time we have won since we participated in the Zone Cross Country.

Kind Regards
Mrs Kollias and Miss Ching

Teamwork in Tiny Shoes
In Term 2, Kindergarten students have had the opportunity to come to the hall and join in on some fun and games with Mr Tilt. During the Wednesday club, students are learning a variety of games for them to take out onto the playground during break times such as Duck, Duck, Goose, Silly Bananas and What’s The Time Mr Wolf? While having all this fun, we also focus on how to play safely, fairly and make some new friends along the way.

NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee 2025

Once again, WPPS will be participating in the Premier’s spelling bee this term. Students in Years 2-6 have the opportunity to participate. Class teachers have placed the link to the Spelling Bee website onto Google Classroom, where students can access the wordlists. The wordlists are password protected, and this cannot be published on any public site, including this newsletter. You can find the password on your child’s Google Classroom. Each class will be running a spelling bee in the classroom in Week 6 or Week 7, using the words from the Spelling Bee wordlist. Students might like to spend some time at home familiarising themselves with some of the words and practising to spell them before the spelling bee. One winner from each class will participate in the Junior (grades 2-4) and Senior (grades 5-6) finals in Week 8. The winners from our school finals will then go on to participate in the Regional Finals next term. We encourage all students to have a go and be part of the spelling bee. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Andrews.
