On behalf of the staff at Wentworth Point Public School, we wish you all a wonderful and restful holiday. For those celebrating Easter, we hope you enjoy the festivities. Easter not only holds deep religious significance but has also become a cherished cultural celebration in many communities, bringing people together in joy and reflection.
Additionally, we would like to remind everyone that ANZAC Day falls during our school holidays on Friday 25 April. It is a time to honour and reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans and service personnel who served in the world wars, peacekeeping missions, and recent conflicts.
Important Dates:
- Friday 11 April - Last day of Term 1
- Monday 28 April & Tuesday 29 April - School Development Days (staff only)

The WPPS office will be open from 10 AM to 1 PM. For any other inquiries, please email the school at wentworthp-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.
Kindergarten Welcome BBQ
A warm thank you to our P&C and the Fahme family for hosting our annual Welcome to Kindergarten BBQ on Thursday, 3 April. Their generosity in providing delicious halal sausages for our students and families was greatly appreciated. It was wonderful to see children playing and families connecting in our playground.

Wishing you a restful break and we are all looking forward to seeing everyone back for Term 2.
Kind Regards
Jayne Muir

Dear All,
What a busy and exciting time it has been at our school! It’s been wonderful to greet you each morning and witness the magic of learning unfold every day in learning spaces. We are also thrilled to share that we are currently underway with planning our 2025 Education Week celebration, set to take place in Term 3. Last year’s celebration was a highlight for all, as we came together to celebrate belonging and the importance of public education at WPPPS. We can’t wait to make this year’s event even more special!
Sorry Day & National Reconciliation Week
This week, our school community came together to commemorate Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week. Students across all year groups engaged in meaningful activities and discussions, learning about the significance of these observances in acknowledging Australia’s history and working towards a more inclusive future. Through art, storytelling, and collaborative projects, our students explored the themes of respect, recognition, and healing. We are proud of their efforts to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ongoing journey of reconciliation. One activity that was completed across the school, was student pledged what they can do - so make sure you ask your child what they pledged!

Afternoon Exit
A friendly reminder to all families: for the safety and consistency of our afternoon dismissal, all students and families are only to be exiting through the back gate. We understand that the front gate may seem more convenient, especially for those heading to the ferry or Pier Side, but we ask for your cooperation in following this procedure. This measure is in place to ensure the safety of all students and maintain order during pick-up times. Thank you for your understanding and support!
See you at the gate or in a learning space soon!
Kind Regards
Daniel Hall

Dear Parents and Carers,
A big thank you to all the students and families who took part in Walk Safely to School Day as part of National Road Safety Week. It was wonderful to see so many of our students walking with care, using crossings safely, and showing great awareness around traffic.
We also want to acknowledge our parents and carers for modelling safe pedestrian behaviour and driving with caution around the school. By slowing down, avoiding distractions, and staying alert in school zones, you are helping to create a safer environment for all.
Together, we’re building healthy habits and reinforcing the message that every step and every decision counts when it comes to road safety.

Special Religious Education (SRE) and Special Education in Ethics
At Wentworth Point, we offer Special Religious Education (SRE) classes for Protestant, Catholic, Hindu, and Islamic students. These classes are taught by authorised representatives and provide students with the opportunity to learn about the beliefs and practices of their chosen faith. We also offer Special Education in Ethics (SEE), where students engage with stories and discussions that help them develop skills in ethical reasoning, decision-making, and respectful debate. Through these lessons, students learn how to evaluate dilemmas, express their opinions with evidence-based reasoning, and collaborate with their peers.
Lessons are every Thursday, 2:15 PM – 2:45 PM. At enrolment parents will have selected a group for their child. Students continuing from last year will remain in the same group unless a change is requested. If there is a need to change your child’s SRE/SEE preference, please email the school with the updated information by Friday 23 May. No changes will be made to scripture groups after this date.
Students who do not attend SRE or SEE will participate in Non-Scripture classes, where they will engage in quiet activities such as reading, drawing, or listening to stories. Regular school lessons do not take place during this time.
For more details on the SRE/SEE curriculum, please visit the links below:
SRE (Special Religious Education) and SEE (Special Education in Ethics) groups at WPPS are led by trained community volunteers. Each volunteer completes training with their organisation and a yearly school induction. WPPS staff are always present to supervise these sessions. Sometimes, a volunteer may be absent due to illness or personal reasons. When this happens, students still attend their nominated group and participate in non-scripture activities.
From Term 2, WPPS now offers Ethics for Stage 2 and Stage 3 students. Expressions of Interest were collected earlier this term. Ethics groups are capped at 22 students. Stage 2 is currently full, while Stage 3 has limited places available. We’re pleased to welcome a new Hindu teacher who has recently joined the team of volunteers. We’re very grateful for the time and commitment of all our volunteers who provide these valuable learning opportunities.
If you're interested in becoming a volunteer Ethics or Scripture teacher, please contact the school office and we’ll help connect you with the relevant provider.
Kind Regards
Daniel Hall
WPPS Sport News
Sporting Schools – Volleyball NSW
We’ve had an exciting few weeks at Wentworth Point Public School with our volleyball sports program for Stage 2 and Stage 3 classes, which ran for two weeks. This program provided our students with the opportunity to develop their skills and teamwork in this dynamic sport. It was fantastic to see so many of our students engaged, having fun, and building their confidence on the court!

Summer PSSA
A big congratulations to all the children who took part in the Summer PSSA this term, competing in AFL, T-ball, softball, and cricket. Your hard work and dedication are truly commendable! Many of our students showed remarkable improvement throughout the season, and it was inspiring to witness their commitment to teamwork and sportsmanship. We are proud of each participant for giving their best and representing Wentworth Point with pride. Please see the images of the Summer PSSA draws (Cricket, AFL, Softball, and T-ball). Summer PSSA will continue in Term 3, Week 8, on Friday, 12th September 2025.

Winter PSSA
Last week, coaches conducted the Winter PSSA trials, including netball, touch football, and soccer. We were thrilled to see a large number of students try out for these sports, demonstrating their enthusiasm and passion. Thank you to all the students who participated and showcased their skills. Congratulations to all the students who were selected for the Winter PSSA teams! The first Winter PSSA game will be in Term 2, Week 2, on Friday, 9th May. The draws will be shared next term.

This week, we held our school Cross Country carnival at Blaxland Riverside Park. All students who participated gave it their best effort and showed great determination. It was a fun day filled with races and games. The students who have qualified for the Western Suburbs PSSA Cross Country will be announced early next term. It will be held on Wednesday 21st May 2025 at Queen Elizabeth Park Concord.
Stay active and keep up the great work, Wentworth Point!

Exploring Area, Volume, and Mass in the Hippo Class!
In the Hippos class, Year 2 students have been exploring the exciting concepts of area, volume, and mass in maths! They’ve been measuring and comparing the space inside different objects and learning how to calculate the weight of various items. Using cubes and simple shapes to understand area and volume, and hands-on activities to measure mass, the students are developing a strong understanding of these important concepts. Whether building 3D structures with blocks or using scales to weigh objects around the classroom, the Hippos are having a fantastic time applying these new skills to real-life situations. Great work, Hippos! Keep it up!

Year 1 EAL/D Withdrawal Groups
It is so exciting to share the experiences of the Year 1 EAL/D withdrawal groups! Students have been learning to use more English vocabulary to engage in conversation with their peers. Through the intensive support students are also becoming confident in writing. Recently we have been writing about our favourite things. This has not only lifted students' vocabulary but also fosters a sense of community and appreciation of what makes us similar and how we are different. Celebrating their unique stories and experiences has greatly increased everyone's confidence in using English language.
I am so proud of the learning and growth of shown by all students in the Year 1 EAL/D withdrawal group and can't wait for Term 2!

Stage 2 Walking Excursion - Murama Healing Space and Newington Armory
On Thursday the 3rd of April, our Stage 2 students embarked on an exciting walking excursion to the Murama Healing Space and the historic Newington Armory. This enriching experience allowed students to connect with nature and learn about Indigenous culture and history. At the Murama Healing Space, students participated in a scavenger hunt, while at Newington Armory, they explored the site’s fascinating past and its significance to our community. The excursion fostered teamwork, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of our local environment.
