Dear Parents and Carers,
Harmony Day Thank You
I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who attended our Harmony Day assembly and the opening of our whole school mural. Your presence and participation made the day truly special and memorable.
The theme of "We All Have a Role to Play" resonates deeply within our school community, highlighting the importance of unity, diversity, and collaboration. It was inspiring to see so many families come together to celebrate our shared values and cultures that make our school unique.
We were overwhelmed by the level of parent engagement and support. It is this involvement that strengthens our community and enhances the educational experience for all our students. Together, we can continue to foster an environment of respect, understanding, and inclusivity.
Thank you once again for your support and commitment. We look forward to many more collaborative events throughout 2025.
Road Safety
As we continue to prioritise the safety of our students during drop-off and pick-up times, I would like to remind you of some important road rules that apply outside our school. Adhering to these regulations not only ensures the safety of our children but also helps keep traffic flowing smoothly.
You will have noticed recently that we have had an increase in traffic, particularly in the morning. Unfortunately, each morning when our staff are at the gates welcoming our community, we regularly see community members driving in a way that is dangerous to our students. Below are three road rules that I would like to focus on this fortnight.
3 Key Road Rules to Remember:
- Double Parking:
- Double parking is when a vehicle stops beside another vehicle that is already parked on the road. This practice is illegal and can pose a serious risk to children crossing the road as it obstructs the view of oncoming traffic.
- Fines: The penalty for double parking can result in a fine of up to $387 and 2 demerit points.
- U-Turns:
- Performing a U-turn (turning your vehicle around in the opposite direction) near school zones can be dangerous, especially when children are present. It is crucial to ensure that your U-turn does not disrupt the flow of traffic or endanger pedestrians.
- Fines: If you perform a U-turn in a prohibited area, you may face a fine of $387 and 3 demerit points.
- Observe No Parking Signs
- You have 2 minutes to drop - off or pick- up. You must stay within 3 metres of your vehicle.
- Fines: Failure to observe theses rules can result in a $215 fine and 2 demerit points
By following these road rules, we can help create a safer environment for our students. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the safety of our school community.
Pedestrian Safety
I would also like to take a moment to emphasise the importance of using the pedestrian crossing on Burroway Road. We are so fortunate to have Geoff there as our crossing supervisor. This crossing is specifically designed to ensure the safety of our students as they travel to and from school.
When students cross at designated crossings, they are not only following traffic rules but also prioritising their safety. In addition, Geoff is there to guide and protect our children, helping them navigate traffic safely. By encouraging our students to use these crossings, we can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and ensure a safer environment for everyone.
Additional Crossing Outside Our School
As you are aware our school is currently involved in a Stage 2 Upgrade. As part of the project to upgrade Wentworth Point Public School, we are pleased to confirm we will be building a new raised (wombat) crossing outside the school on Ferry Wharf Circuit.
This crossing was requested by the school community during early consultation on this upgrade and will provide an additional safe crossing point for students and families to walk safely to and from school.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Stage 2 project upgrade, please contact School Infrastructure as soon as possible during business hours on the contact details below.
Email: schoolinfrastructure@det.nsw.edu.au
Phone: 1300 482 651
In addition, you can email the school, and we will forward your concerns directly to School Infrastructure
Kind Regards

Dear All,
Harmony Week in Australia is a time to celebrate inclusiveness, respect, and cultural diversity. It concludes with Harmony Day on March 21st, which promotes the message that "Everyone Belongs" and encourages communities to unite in appreciation of our diverse backgrounds.
At WPPS, students participated in various activities and discussions throughout the week to deepen their understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusivity. A key highlight was the creation of our school mural. Every student had the opportunity to contribute to this collaborative project, reflecting the theme: "Harmony – we all have a role to play." The mural stands as a lasting reminder of our commitment to celebrating the diverse backgrounds that enrich our school community.
We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended the mural unveiling. The strong turnout was truly wonderful to see! Special thanks to the parents who helped move chairs in the rain; your support and assistance are greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards

Dear Parents and Carers,
What an incredible term it has been so far, and we are excited about the two very full weeks of learning ahead, both in the classroom and outdoors. We have witnessed remarkable resilience and adaptability among our students, as they embraced changes beyond our control, such as adapting to wet weather routines. Their determination and ability to thrive in the face of uncertainty inspire us all. This journey has reinforced our commitment to excellence, flexibility, and mutual support.
Afternoon Pick-Up – Thank You for Your Support!
We want to extend a sincere thank you to our parents and carers for following the single entry/exit path for afternoon pick-up. Your patience, cooperation, and commitment to this routine are making a real difference in ensuring the safety of all our students. We understand that afternoons can be busy, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to follow the process carefully.
We know you are very excited to see and hear from your child in the afternoon. To ensure a smooth and safe dismissal, we kindly ask that all students remain with their class teacher until their parent, grandparent, or carer arrives to collect them. This helps us ensure every child is safely accounted for and makes the handover process much easier.
Your ongoing support helps everything run smoothly and keeps our school community safe. Thank you for working with us to make pick-up a safe and positive experience for everyone. We appreciate you!
School Behaviour Management and Support Plan
All NSW public schools are expected to develop and implement a School Behaviour Management and Support Plan in line with the NSW Department of Education’s updated procedures. At Wentworth Point Public School, our approach is positive, proactive, and preventative, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Our procedures have been developed through feedback from staff and parents as well conducting focus groups with students, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among our whole school community. We regularly review our plan throughout the year to ensure it remains effective and responsive to student needs. By setting clear expectations, building respectful relationships, and providing tailored support, we guide students in making positive choices.

We value our partnership with families and encourage parents and carers to explore the plan on our website. Together, we create a supportive school culture where every child feels a sense of belonging through being Known, Valued and Cared for at Wentworth Point Public School.
Kind Regards
Karosha Reddy
Deputy Principal
Community Celebrations
Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a month of reflection, gratitude, and giving. It is a time for families to come together in joy and share meals, kindness, and community.
Ugadi, the beginning of the new year for many in India, is a time of renewal and hope. Families celebrate with traditional foods and festivities, looking forward to a bright year ahead.
To everyone in our school community celebrating Eid or Ugadi, we wish you happiness, peace, and a wonderful year ahead.
Eid Mubarak and Ugadi Subhakankshalu!

Kindergarten’s Out-of-This-World Science Incursion!
Our Early Stage 1 students recently embarked on an exciting journey with Starr’s Planetarium, where they explored the wonders of Earth and Space. In Science, students have been investigating daily and seasonal changes in the environment. This incursion provided a fun and engaging way to deepen their understanding of Earth as part of a dynamic, interconnected system. The experience sparked curiosity and excitement, and the students returned eager to share all they had learned!

The Leopards are Mathematicians

Galahs are so Dramatic!
In Term 1, the Galahs have been exploring drama in our Stage 2 Creative Arts unit. We are using the elements of drama to create group sculptures with our bodies, and explore how different characters move. We also re-created the Aboriginal Dreamtime story of Tiddalick the Frog in small groups, and embodied different characters. Can you tell which characters we are trying to be?

The Harmonious Pegasus Class!
Our class has been working together to contribute to the fantastic mural for Harmony Day! The artwork reflects the themes of diversity, respect, and inclusion, with each student contributing their own ideas and creativity. It’s been a great way for us to collaborate and celebrate what makes our community special.

Kindergarten NAP Withdrawal Groups with Mrs. Attia
This term, we have been having lots of fun improving our speaking and listening skills. We practice saying hello in social settings and sharing information about ourselves such as where we come from, what languages we speak, how many brothers and sisters we have and if we have any pets. We do this by taking turns speaking and then listening to others speak. We also play games and sing songs.

Kangaroos are Fraction Fanatics & Cross-Country Champs!
This week, the Kangaroos have been diving into the world of fractions! We've been exploring how to identify, compare, and represent fractions using number lines, shapes, and real-life examples. The students have enjoyed hands-on activities, including fraction games, group challenges, and investigating the correct units of time in problem-solving. Their problem-solving skills are growing as they learn to add, subtract, and find equivalent fractions.
Alongside our maths learning, we've also been lacing up our running shoes and training for the upcoming cross-country event! The students have been working on building their stamina, pacing themselves, and setting personal goals. It's been fantastic to see their determination and enthusiasm out on the track. Keep up the great work, Kangaroos!
