Message from Jayne Muir, Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
It is so pleasing to see our students in their permanent 2025 classes creating new friendships and engaging with new content. We are all looking forward to another successful year at Wentworth Point Public School.
Below is an overview of the 2025 Teams with class names and teachers. You will notice a few of our Assistant Principals are not attached to a class. In 2025, some of our Assistant Principals are supporting classes within the grade they supervise. They will be working shoulder-to-shoulder with their stage team to develop data-informed approaches to teaching and learning and use assessment as a valuable tool for instructional decision-making. In addition, they will be in classrooms providing release from face to face (RFF) for classroom teachers. All class teachers are provided with two hours RFF each week for professional learning, team meetings, planning, contacting families and any administration tasks that need to be completed.

Meet the Teacher
Thank you for joining us this week for Meet the Teacher. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for students to reach their full learning potential. At Wentworth Point Public School, we greatly value this partnership with you.
As you know, the event was not designed for individual discussions about your child's progress. If you would like to speak with your child's teacher, please feel free to email the school to arrange a phone call or an in-person meeting. We also want to remind you that official parent-teacher conferences will be held at the end of Term 2, following the distribution of Semester 1 reports.

Welcome Arlo
I am pleased to announce the arrival of baby Arlo. Mrs Healston, Assistant Principal Stage 2 and class teacher of the 2024 Cheetahs class gave birth to Arlo in January, weighing 3.2Kg. Mother and son are doing well and enjoying daily walks and outings.

School Uniform
School uniforms play a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging, personal safety, and positive identity within our school community. While we are pleased to see many students wearing the correct school shirt, we have observed that some students are not wearing the appropriate shorts. We have noticed a variety of alternatives, including bike pants, gym tights, basketball shorts, and trousers in various colours.
To maintain a cohesive and unified school environment, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring that all students adhere to the complete school uniform. Thank you for your support.
Staffing Update- Ms Nidhi Bajaj
I am writing to share an important staffing update regarding Ms. Nidhi Bajaj. At the beginning of 2025, Ms. Bajaj was informed by Human Resources that her transfer request to work closer to home had been successfully approved. She has officially started her new role as classroom teacher at Eastwood Heights Public School.
As we say goodbye to an exceptional teacher, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the significant impact she has had on our school community. Ms. Bajaj’s passion for teaching shone through in every lesson, inspiring her students to explore, question, and grow. Her remarkable ability to connect with each student created a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone felt valued and encouraged.
While Ms. Bajaj will be greatly missed, we wish her all the best as she embarks on this new chapter in her career.
Kind Regards
Jayne Muir

Ramadan Mubarak

As we enter the month of Ramadan, we want to acknowledge and extend our warmest wishes to all of our families observing this special time. Ramadan is a time for reflection, prayer, and community, and we celebrate the diversity of our school community. May this month bring peace, joy, and blessings to you and your loved ones.
2025 School Leaders
We’re proud to introduce our student leadership teams for this year! This is a wonderful opportunity for them to develop leadership skills, mentor younger students, and demonstrate responsibility, ownership, and pride in our school.
With the support of our staff, our leaders will deepen their understanding of how our school values shape effective leadership. They will build a diverse range of skills and attributes, learning what it means to make a positive impact in our community. We look forward to seeing them grow in confidence and lead by example throughout the year!

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am so proud of the amazing learning happening in every classroom at our school. The highlight of my day is often when I have visitors showing of great work or when I get to go into classrooms and see the magic of learning happen! It has been wonderful to see the excitement and engagement from our students. A big thank you to all the families who joined us for the Meet the Teacher sessions this past week. It was great to chat with many of you and I look forward to welcoming you onsite throughout the year for various events and activities.
Bikes and Scooter
As our school continues to grow and more students are riding bikes and scooters to school, we encourage families to send a lock with your child's bike or scooter. This will help your child secure their bike or scooter to the racks, which prevents any mix-ups and ensures they take home the right one. Please teach your students how to safely use the lock that you provide. I would also highly recommended that you engrave your bikes or scooters with your child's first and last name.
Device Drop-off Reminder
Just a friendly reminder that all smart watches and phones need to be dropped off at the front office in the morning. This follows the NSW Department of Education's policy, which helps create a focused learning environment for our students. In the afternoon, students in Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6) can pick up their devices from the lower level of the atrium, while all other students will now collect them in front of the school canteen. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a positive and distraction-free school atmosphere!
See you in a learning space or at the gate soon!

Dear Parents/Carers,
It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through Term 1! The classrooms are filled with vibrant energy as our students settle into their new routines and dive into their learning. It’s been fantastic to watch them build new friendships after forming their new classes and exploring the different playground clubs on offer. These clubs have definitely added an extra element of fun to playtime, and it’s wonderful to see the positive impact they’re having on our students’ social connections.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Meet the Teacher sessions this week. It was lovely to connect with so many of you, and I’m grateful for your continued support in helping our students thrive. I look forward to engaging with even more of our school community as the term continues, and I’m excited for all the wonderful moments and learning ahead.
English Language Support at WPPS
At Wentworth Point Public School our families are from a range of different cultural backgrounds. Over 80% of our students speak a language another than English. All students have a different level of English language skill which is supported through adjustments teachers make in the classroom and through additional support provided by specialist EAL/D staff across the school.
At our school, we are very fortunate to have dedicated and passionate EAL/D teachers who work with students and teachers to provide the best opportunities for all students to succeed in their learning.
- Early Stage One (Kindergarten): Mrs Attia
- Stage One (Year 1 and Year 2): Mrs Russell and Ms Hemsworth
- Stage Two (Year 3 and Year 4): Miss Issa and Mrs Zappavigna (Mon & Tues)
- Stage Three (Year 5 and Year 6): Ms Atterton and Mrs Zappavigna (Wed & Thu)
Students who demonstrate English skills at a Beginning or Emerging phase receive intensive intervention to build their oral language skills. This ensures that students at the Beginning and Emerging phase can access curriculum learning in a successful manner aligned with their English language capability.
Students who have English skill at Developing or Consolidating, access in-class support through a range of teaching approaches which could include the support of an EAL/D specialist teacher, in the classroom at different times in the week. This ensures that students have the opportunity to strengthen language competencies they have already developed and can apply their skills with classroom learning activities, with the guidance of their class teacher or specialist EAL/D staff.
Please contact the school, if you have any questions about English language support for your child.
Special Religious Education (SRE) and Special Education in Ethics
At Wentworth Point, we offer Special Religious Education (SRE) classes for Protestant, Catholic, Hindu, and Islamic students. These classes are taught by authorised representatives and provide students with the opportunity to learn about the beliefs and practices of their chosen faith.
We also offer Special Education in Ethics (SEE), where students engage with stories and discussions that help them develop skills in ethical reasoning, decision-making, and respectful debate. Through these lessons, students learn how to evaluate dilemmas, express their opinions with evidence-based reasoning, and collaborate with their peers.
SRE and SEE classes will begin in Week 6. Lessons are every Thursday, 2:15 PM – 2:45 PM. At enrolment parents will have selected a group for their child. Students continuing from last year will remain in the same group unless a change is requested. If you would like to change your child’s SRE/SEE preference, please email the school with the updated information.
Students who do not attend SRE or SEE will participate in Non-Scripture classes, where they will engage in quiet activities such as reading, drawing, or listening to stories. Regular school lessons do not take place during this time.
For more details on the SRE/SEE curriculum, please visit the links below:
If you would like to volunteer as teacher for any of our scripture or Ethics groups, please contact the school and we will assist you in connecting with the scripture provider.
Kind Regards

Stage 1 Lego Club
The Lego Lunchtime Club is a fun and creative activity for Stage 1 students, where they can build and play with Lego during their lunch break. It’s a great opportunity for children to use their imagination and problem-solving skills while working on projects alone or with friends. The club encourages teamwork, creativity, and fine motor skills, as children build structures, vehicles, and more. It’s a relaxed and enjoyable environment where students can take a break from their regular lessons and have fun with Lego in a supportive, friendly setting.

STEAM Club - Dashbot Adventures!
We’ve been having an amazing time in STEAM Club, getting to know Dashbot! So far, we’ve learned how to pair it with an iPad, control its movements, and code basic commands. Now that we’ve got the hang of it, we’re ready for some exciting challenges, such as navigating obstacle courses, racing while avoiding obstacles, and even creating our own story with our Dashbot as the main character. If we have time, Mr Keenan says we might even get to play a game of Dashbot soccer! We can’t wait to see what we create next!

Stage 1 Board Games
At Stage 1 Board Games Club, we provide a fun and inclusive space for students to develop social skills, critical thinking, and teamwork all through the joy of board games!
During playtime, students have the opportunity to engage with board games, learning strategies, problem-solving, and good sportsmanship in a supportive environment. It’s a great way for them to build friendships while developing valuable skills.

Kindergarten Drawing Club
We are excited to introduce the Kindergarten Drawing Club, which will be held on Friday afternoons during Break 4. This club is open to all Kindergarten students who have an interest in drawing and creativity. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, painting, and drawing, all within a calm and supportive environment. This club allows children to take a refreshing break from the playground, while fostering their artistic expression and creativity. It’s a fantastic opportunity for your child to make new friends, explore their creativity, and have fun!

Swimming Carnival
What a fantastic day we had at our school swimming carnival! This year’s event at Parramatta Pool was a great success, with students giving their best efforts in and out of the water.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers—your help made the day run smoothly, and we truly appreciate your support. We’re incredibly proud of all our swimmers for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to the 44 students who have qualified for the Zone Swimming Carnival—we wish you the very best in your events!

This is an extract from Mrs. Muir's report in one of the school newsletters , it nicely explains about P&C meetings.
--
P & C meetings are an informal gathering of parents, citizens, and some staff members where we talk about current and future plans for the school and how we can work together to support and drive common interests related to the school. Members of the P & C Committee provide updates and discuss ways in which we can develop and build on a sense of belonging and connection. Each meeting I share a principal’s report where I provide a term update. It is also an opportunity to answer any questions our community might have.
Kindly note that this meeting will be held in the school hall.
